Polish Dominican Pastoral Center in Victoria

On 15April (Divine Mercy Sunday), 2012, the Dominican Community, embracing Pastoral Centres in North Sunshine, Yarraville and Hoppers Crossing decided to build a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Czestochowa, Queen of Poland, and the Divine Mercy for all Polish people.

A strong relationship has always united Polish people throughout the world with the faith of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Our nation puts great trust and hope in her intercession and care. To her we entrust all matters: national, family, professional and personal ones.
The veneration of Our Lady of Czestochowa is on the one hand a very important aspect of the Polish community in the world, and on the other – it maintains the bond with the Motherland.
For more than 600 years, the painting of Black Madonna of Czestochowa has been accompanying successive generations of Polish people as the most precious symbol.

The chapel is also dedicated to the Divine Mercy, whose worship is related to our Nation in a particular way.

Referring to the statement of Pope John Paul II addressed to all Polish People during the consecration of the Basilica in Lagiewniki (17 August 2002), in which the Holy Father addressed us to " convey the Fire of Mercy to the whole world" - in response to this call by Blessed John Paul II, this chapel has been established.

On 18.05.2013, during a multi-ethnic pilgrimage to Our Lady of Ta'Pinu, the chapel was officially opened by Father Dominik Jalocha OP.

On 3 rd November 2013, blessing of the chapel will be by Fr Krzysztof Poplawski OP, Prior Provincial of Polish Province of the Order of Preachers, in the presence of clergy, nuns and the faithful.
The whole project was made possible thanks to the great kindness of Good God, and thanks to the extraordinary generosity of many people who supported us every day with prayer, material assistance and generous gifts of the heart and hands.

Throughout the duration of previous work we expressed our gratitude through prayers to God for you all, your families and your loved ones, and we will continue to do so.

Let the chapel reflect on the people who established it, and on the times in which it was built. Let it serve them all, as well as future generations who will live after us. We are a part of history, and we do not want our past be forgotten or erased. So let it all be accepted from us by merciful and gracious God.
